Aftermath Book (Holocaust Granddaughter's Memoir) Review

Product Description:

The book Aftermath: A Granddaughter's Story of Legacy, Healing & Hope is the memoir of author Allison Nazarian, the granddaughter of an Auschwitz survivor grandmother and Dachau survivor grandfather, who grew up in privilege in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. in the 1980s. The heaviness of her maternal grandparents' status as Holocaust survivors impacted every aspect of Allison's life, eventually causing Allison's mother Lily to commit suicide at age 51.

Much has been said about the "inherited trauma" or epigenetics of Holocaust survivors and this book underscores it, offering a glimpse of what it's like to grow up under these unusual circumstances, but also offering hope to others who grow up with the weight of family trauma of any kind.
